Warm mix asphalt is paving mix that can be produced and compacted at lower temperatures than traditional hot mix asphalt materials for roadway development. This may result in reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) and asphalt emissions through lower operational temperature requirements at the plant and at the job site. PHALANX®, a specially engineered warm mix additive, is designed to improve compactability of hot asphalt mixes and Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB) mixes. It helps reduce the paving temperature when laying down a roadway. PHALANX helps lower the carbon footprint, reduce energy consumption, and deliver overall cost savings.
Warm Mix Asphalt as a Plant Operations Strategy
For many asphalt producers, warm mix asphalt (WMA) has traditionally been discussed in terms of paving performance, compaction benefits, or sustainability goals. While those advantages remain important, a growing number of asphalt plant managers are viewing warm mix asphalt through a different lens of operational efficiency. As fuel costs fluctuate and environmental regulations evolve, asphalt plants are under pressure to do more with fewer resources. As [...]
