ButaPhalt

ButaPhalt® is an innovative cross-linking agent that helps improve the effectiveness of sulfur to cross link the SBS polymers with bitumen during the manufacture of polymer modified bitumen (PMB). It also helps in improving the thermal stability and storage stability of the PMB. A unique blend of proprietary ingredients, ButaPhalt acts as a H2S scavenger, helping reduce the hydrogen sulfide (H2S) emission and odor. It is easy to use in a PMB operation and is safe to handle and use. A more effective cross-linking agent, low levels of ButaPhalt deliver the desired results. ButaPhalt also helps in reducing the amount of polymer needed to meet the established specification and deliver the desired performance. The product is available both as a free-flowing, dust-free powder and as a liquid.

Cost Savings and Lifecycle Value in the Asphalt Industry

Asphalt production and paving operations are under constant pressure to balance performance, efficiency, and cost. Agencies, producers, and contractors are expected to deliver durable pavements while managing fluctuating raw material prices, energy expenses, maintenance demands, and increasingly complex mix designs. As a result, the use of asphalt additives and asphalt modifiers has become an important strategy for optimizing production costs and long-term pavement value.    Advanced additive [...]

Asphalt Additives: Modern Chemistry Transforms Road Construction

The asphalt industry has undergone a significant transformation over the past few decades driven by advances in materials science, tighter performance requirements, and the increasing use of recycled materials. At the center of this evolution is a class of technologies broadly known as asphalt additives.     Once considered optional enhancements, additives are now a core part of modern mix design, fundamentally changing how asphalt or [...]

ButaPhalt Crosslinking Additive for PMB: A Closer Look

Polymer modified bitumen (PMB) is an essential material in asphalt paving, helping producers and contractors meet increasing demands for durability, rut resistance, flexibility, and long-term pavement performance. However, producing high-quality PMB requires more than blending polymers into asphalt binder. The success of the modification process often depends on the effectiveness of the crosslinking additive used during production.    Crosslinkers play a critical role in [...]

How Asphalt Crosslinking Impacts Long-Term Fatigue and Cracking Resistance

Asphalt pavements are subjected to a complex combination of mechanical stresses, environmental conditions, and temperature fluctuations throughout their service life. Fatigue cracking and surface deterioration are common challenges that can significantly reduce pavement lifespan and increase maintenance costs.     One of the most effective strategies to combat these issues is PMB asphalt crosslinking, a process that enhances binder elasticity, cohesion, and resistance to micro-crack [...]
