Conversations are picking up across the asphalt paving industry regarding technologies to improve environmental outcomes without affecting roadway performance. Warm mix asphalt (WMA) continues to take the lead in these discussions as mix designers and engineers explore how lowering production and compaction temperatures impacts performance outcomes on job sites.

Warm mix additives are materials added to asphalt mixtures that can impact compaction by improving wettability, viscosity, and aggregate lubrication to aid compactability at lower temperatures. Effective warm mix additives in asphalt allow for effective packing at these lower temperatures, often between 30-120F less than hot mix asphalt.

Sripath is dedicated to providing innovative additive technologies that help the asphalt industry solve practical challenges. Our own warm mix additive, PHALANX®, uniquely reduces mix production temperatures while also reducing paving compaction temperature and improving compactability. PHALANX is also an environmentally friendly additive, helping to reduce overall energy consumption while remaining highly dosage efficient.

We also believe in collaboration and education across the industry as more departments of transportation, contractors, and agency stakeholders learn more about how to incorporate WMA for asphalt into their processes. Our Warm Mix Asphalt Resource Guide includes links to key industry resources to help guide conversations, research, and innovation across the asphalt paving industry.
