PGXpand

PMB mixes have been popular for decades and are designed to maintain the integrity of the roadway while enhancing functional performance characteristics. Most virgin bitumen lacks the complete properties needed in quality to build high-performing roadways. Adding polymers to create a PMB can help strengthen and toughen the roadway surface. PGXpand®, a bitumen-friendly polymer additive, is uniquely designed to allow polymer modified bitumen (PMB) producers to boost the high temperature performance of the binder while maintaining low temperature properties. It minimizes SBS content, improves viscosity, supports higher filler loading, and provides better stability.

Asphalt Additives: Modern Chemistry Transforms Road Construction

The asphalt industry has undergone a significant transformation over the past few decades driven by advances in materials science, tighter performance requirements, and the increasing use of recycled materials. At the center of this evolution is a class of technologies broadly known as asphalt additives.     Once considered optional enhancements, additives are now a core part of modern mix design, fundamentally changing how asphalt or [...]

Boosting Roofing Performance with a Polymeric Additive

In today’s demanding construction environment, roofing systems are expected to do more than just provide shelter. They must withstand extreme temperatures, resist water ingress, and maintain long-term durability under mechanical stress.     Achieving this level of performance starts at the formulation stage. For manufacturers working with roofing membrane formulations, roofing underlayments, and ice and water barrier systems, a bitumen-friendly polymeric additive like PGXpand® proves [...]

Enhancing Pavement Durability for High-Traffic Roadways

As transportation infrastructure faces growing traffic volumes and heavier axle loads, pavement durability has become a priority in new road construction. Municipalities, contractors, and transportation agencies are under pressure to build roads that last longer, require less maintenance, and deliver better lifecycle value.    The importance of pavement durability extends beyond appearance or ride quality. From a financial standpoint, durable pavements can help reduce long-term maintenance costs, minimize expensive [...]
