In 2022, the Sripath Technologies #12 B-Spec Mini Cooper, driven by Steve Introne, was crowned the National Champion at Virginia International Raceway at the premiere amateur motorsports event in the country – the Sports Car Club of America Runoffs.
In a week, Introne aims to do it again.
The week-long crown jewel of amateur sports car racing begins on Saturday, September 23, returning to VIR, the same track as the 2022 event. Testing and qualifying will take place throughout the week. Then the showcase winner-take-all 15-lap or 40-minute sprint race on the 3.27 mile course for the B-Spec class is scheduled to take the green flag on Sunday, October 1 at 8:15am ET.
The recently released “Who Will Win?” issue of Sports Car magazine named Introne as their prediction for who will top the podium again in 2023. While Introne has already claimed the Northeast Conference championships, he’s not as certain about the National title. In the last year, the Mini Coopers have had weight added to balance the power among the various makes and models in the class. These set-up changes have the Mazdas proving very fast in the races this season leading up to this week. Ultimately, it will come down to who races hardest, fastest and cleanest.
All the racing action will be broadcast live and free on the SCCA website, Facebook page, and YouTube channel. Tune in to see if Introne can claim a repeat and bring the Sripath Technologies Mini Cooper back to the winner’s circle for another time.
Everyone at Sripath Technologies is rooting for Steve, and wish him all the best!
