About Krishna Srinivasan, PhD | President

Krishna Srinivasan, Ph.D., is currently the President of Sripath Technologies, providing leadership and strategic guidance across the Sripath Group of Companies. Srinivasan founded Sripath Technologies in 2006 out of recognition of the growing need across the bitumen and asphalt industry for innovative solutions to common obstacles facing industry professionals.

Embracing a back-to-basics approach, he spearheads product development with an eye to solving complex challenges with performance-achieving additives that also have a focus on sustainability. The result is a robust offering of bitumen-enhancing products that place an emphasis on delivering on mix performance requirements rather than relying on the quality of bitumen itself to meet specifications.

Over 25 years of hands-on experience working in the industry roles across paving and roofing prepared Srinivasan to navigate the technologies behind bitumen performance improvement. His unique experience with technical applications and commercial product development helped establish Sripath Technologies, and its subsidiaries, as a global brand recognized for innovative solutions that make asphalt better.

Understanding the different priorities of transportation departments, plant operators, contractors, and suppliers, Srinivasan directs Sripath’s product R&D to address these concerns by developing dosage efficient, cost effective, environmentally friendly products that are backed by performance data. He also remains current with industry trends and activity across the bitumen market including the impact of changes in the crude oil industry on bitumen quality and performance and demand for products that may help lower carbon emissions.

Srinivasan has established a corporate culture of problem solving, industry collaboration, and transparency. He led the company’s public release of its Environmental Product Declarations. He has also established a vast network of researchers and educators around the world to participate in third-party testing and verification of Sripath’s product portfolio.

Srinivasan is a sought-after thought leader, presenter, and lecturer for industry associations, events, and university programs all over the world. Among other credentials, Srinivasan holds Doctor of Philosophy degree in Materials Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Asphalt Additives for Roofing Compounds

For professionals formulating roofing compounds, creating a high-performing, durable, and cost-effective product is a constant challenge. Roofing systems demand materials that can withstand extreme temperatures and resist weathering and water damage. Bitumen membranes, a cornerstone of these systems, rely heavily on asphalt additives to meet these rigorous requirements.     Among the most versatile tools available to formulators are PGXpand®, a bitumen friendly polymeric additive designed to optimize performance and enhance [...]

PGXpand® and Asphalt Performance in Extreme Climates

As infrastructure owners and contractors face increasingly volatile weather patterns, the demand for a climate-resilient asphalt binder has never been greater. From freeze-thaw cycles in northern regions to sustained high temperatures in the south and southwest, asphalt pavements are under constant stress. Performance is no longer defined solely by average conditions but rather a consideration of performance at extremes.    Polymer modified bitumen (PMB) has long been [...]

How Asphalt Softeners Improve Workability, Compaction, and Mix Uniformity

Asphalt producers and paving contractors face constant pressure to deliver mixes that are easy to handle, consistent during placement, and durable once in service. Achieving these outcomes often depends on how well the asphalt binder flows and coats aggregate.    One category of additives helping producers meet these goals is asphalt softeners, also referred to as bitumen softeners. These materials help manage binder viscosity and improve [...]

What Asphalt Crosslinking Actually Does and How ButaPhalt Is Different

Polymer modified bitumen (PMB) is a cornerstone of asphalt mix design, enabling pavements that can resist rutting, cracking, and aging under increasingly demanding traffic and climate conditions. While polymers provide the backbone of these performance improvements, the real durability of PMB depends on how effectively those polymers interact with the base bitumen. That interaction is where crosslinking plays a critical role.    Crosslinking is often [...]
