Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement, or RAP, comes from the material removed during a roadway resurfacing. Most RAP is produced by milling the top two inches of the road’s wearing course to prepare the surface for new paving material installation or, in the case of full-depth reclamation, over 8 to 10 inches of roadway material. RAP is a material that varies greatly in particle size and notably contains both aged bitumen and aggregate that must be further processed before it can be reused.
