Not only is Sripath committed to innovative product development, but the company is also transparent about its products’ performance. Plans for recent and upcoming field trials and research testing were covered in a June 2024 article by World Highways.
An initial launch of its new warm mix additive for asphalt, PHALANX® (formerly KoolTEQ), was paired with independent testing and trials performed by the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT). The trial was designed to determine asphalt mix performance at different compaction temperatures when dosed with PHALANX. The base binder with just 0.25% PHALANX compacted at 130°C demonstrated comparable compaction to the control mix.
Also slated for later in 2024 is a trial of Sripath’s PGXpand®, a plastomeric polymer designed to improve rutting resistance. PGXpand achieves this by enhancing high temperature properties of a bitumen mix without impacting low temperature properties. The result can be improved performance grade in paving applications with improved workability.
While warm mix additives for asphalt and polymer additives may not have much in common, both PHALANX and PGXpand are critical components of Sripath’s efforts to provide innovative and sustainable products. This focus on sustainability is evident through the company’s transparent approach to sharing exactly how its products can help cut carbon emissions and conserve energy.
The analysis used to determine each product’s environmental impact is detailed in Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), which are independently verified reports that leverage lifecycle assessment protocols. These documents are available publicly on the Sripath website.
“Transportation agencies are looking at EPDs and sustainability reports because they are looking for ways to meet their carbon reduction goals,” said Deepak Madan, Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer, Sripath Technologies. “Europe, UK, Australia and more areas of the US have started to focus on EPDs and sustainability goals. Countries like India are further behind, but they will get there.”
