About Krishna Srinivasan, PhD | President

Krishna Srinivasan, Ph.D., is currently the President of Sripath Technologies, providing leadership and strategic guidance across the Sripath Group of Companies. Srinivasan founded Sripath Technologies in 2006 out of recognition of the growing need across the bitumen and asphalt industry for innovative solutions to common obstacles facing industry professionals.

Embracing a back-to-basics approach, he spearheads product development with an eye to solving complex challenges with performance-achieving additives that also have a focus on sustainability. The result is a robust offering of bitumen-enhancing products that place an emphasis on delivering on mix performance requirements rather than relying on the quality of bitumen itself to meet specifications.

Over 25 years of hands-on experience working in the industry roles across paving and roofing prepared Srinivasan to navigate the technologies behind bitumen performance improvement. His unique experience with technical applications and commercial product development helped establish Sripath Technologies, and its subsidiaries, as a global brand recognized for innovative solutions that make asphalt better.

Understanding the different priorities of transportation departments, plant operators, contractors, and suppliers, Srinivasan directs Sripathโ€™s product R&D to address these concerns by developing dosage efficient, cost effective, environmentally friendly products that are backed by performance data. He also remains current with industry trends and activity across the bitumen market including the impact of changes in the crude oil industry on bitumen quality and performance and demand for products that may help lower carbon emissions.

Srinivasan has established a corporate culture of problem solving, industry collaboration, and transparency. He led the companyโ€™s public release of its Environmental Product Declarations. He has also established a vast network of researchers and educators around the world to participate in third-party testing and verification of Sripathโ€™s product portfolio.

Srinivasan is a sought-after thought leader, presenter, and lecturer for industry associations, events, and university programs all over the world. Among other credentials, Srinivasan holds Doctor of Philosophy degree in Materials Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Crosslinkers for Polymer Modified Bitumen โ€“ Frequently Asked Questions

Crosslinkers are a key component for enhancing the performance of Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB). These additives can help enhance the bond between polymers and bitumen in a mix and improve durability, elasticity, and rutting resistance.ย ย Notably, crosslinking agents can differ in terms of chemistry, reactivity, and dosage requirements. Because of this, asphalt crosslinkers must be carefully selected and introduced at [...]

Improving Rutting Resistance and Asphalt Pavement Durability

Rutting remains a threat to long-term asphalt pavement durability on a global scale. These depressions in the roadway surface that appear as grooves from wheel paths can occur due to repeated heavy traffic with, frequent start and stop, especially in climates with extreme high temperature.ย ย  ย  More than an inconvenience or imperfection, rutting can result in unsafe driving [...]

Reducing Variability in RAP Mixes During Plant Production

Asphalt producers are increasingly relying on reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) to meet environmental goals and cost-efficiency targets. Using RAP can allow aggregate and aged binder to be reused, reducing the need for virgin materials and lowering overall material costs. However, one key challenge that working with RAP poses to plant operators and mix engineers is variability.ย ย  ย  When [...]

VIDEO: Why Bitumen Quality Matters in Asphalt Roadway Production

TRANSCRIPT: As global demand for roads grows, so does the importance of the material that holds them together: bitumen.ย  However, once a consistent, locally sourced byproduct of oil refining, bitumen quality has become increasingly unpredictable. Why? Because modern refineries now prioritize extracting other outputs, resulting in bitumen of varying, often lower quality.ย  Bitumen [...]
