Sripath Technologies is proud to share that it has provided funds to open a new Asphalt Emulsions Lab at the Gallogly College of Engineering (GCoE) and Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy (MCEE) of the University of Oklahoma (OU). The facility, which is located within the Asphalt Binder Laboratory in the Sarkeys Energy Center at OU, will be dedicated to advancing research and development in asphalt emulsion and pavement innovation.

To help establish the lab, Sripath donated equipment and materials required to support research and development of emulsions systems. The laboratory will be available to both undergraduate and graduate students at the university, reflecting Sripath’s commitment to ongoing support for students pursuing careers in research.

Commenting on the laboratory opening, Krishna Srinivasan, President of Sripath Technologies, noted, “Sripath thrives on the challenge of confronting long-standing issues facing the asphalt industry and then engineering additive solutions through research, innovation, and testing.” Support for the lab, OU students, and regional research efforts in asphalt emulsion production and testing is just another way Sripath has shown its dedication to advancing novel technologies that can support more durable roadways and make asphalt better.

Dr. Musharraf Zaman, Director of Southern Plains Transportation Center (SPTC), shared, “As infrastructure demands continue to grow, the laboratory aims to contribute to longer-lasting and cost-effective pavements through innovative pavement preservation solutions. Research conducted at the lab will focus on optimizing material performance, improving construction practices, and addressing the unique environmental challenges of the Southern Plains’ Region.”

Emulsions research is a critical area of study within civil engineering and particularly to the asphalt and bitumen industry. Developing new methods and formulations can lead to innovations in sustainability efforts while delivering desired roadway performance.

Dennis Krivohlavek, Business Development Specialist at Sripath Technologies, is a well-recognized and renowned expert in emulsion technology. He was instrumental in developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy for OU’s emulsion laboratory. Dennis stated, “It has been a great working with the OU team to establish this state-of-the-art emulsion laboratory. Our currently functional laboratory will be fully operational within the  next few months and will allow the faculty and students to conduct research and expand on the asphalt emulsion knowledge base. I am proud to be part of this effort”.

Sripath is a research and innovation-driven company committed to supporting education and exploration throughout the asphalt and bitumen industry.
