About Sachin Raje | Bitpath Director

Sachin Raje is currently the Director of Bitpath, a member of the Sripath Group of Companies. Under Raje’s leadership, Bitpath provides support, guidance, and access to innovative bitumen-enhancing additives with an eye to solving use cases specific to roadway development throughout India. Based in Mumbai, Raje and Bitpath work directly with regional government agencies and contractors to provide solutions for durability and performance challenges unique to India’s high traffic roadways, which are also often subjected to extremes in weather conditions.

Raje has served as director for Bitpath since 2010 and brings over a decade of experience working directly with the Indian road infrastructure industry along with an education in chemistry from a local university in Mumbai. Understanding the nuances of Indian paving market, Raje has been essential in helping to launch Bitpath and its product portfolio as a consistent quality supplier of performance-enhancing additives.

Collaboration with local agencies, educators, and researchers is a hallmark of Bitpath’s approach. Raje has established relationships between the company and a variety of premier academic institutions throughout India regarding performance and validation testing of roadway trials. This network includes the Indian Institute of Technology in both Bombay and Roorkee and the Central Road Research Institute headquartered in New Delhi.

Raje has helped advance the use of products such as ReLIXER and PGXpand in field trials to demonstrate performance improvement for specific use cases on Indian roadways. In northern India, a high-RAP mix trial using ReLIXER as the asphalt rejuvenator demonstrated viability for widespread use as a paving base course. Since, the product has become the rejuvenator of choice for a number of Indian roadway contractors looking to use high-RAP in their mixes. Field trials and laboratory testing has also been conducted exploring the use of PGXpand to minimize rutting in Indian bitumen used for roadway development.

PGXpand Polymer Additive for Asphalt Used in India Field Trial to Combat Rutting

Roadways subjected to heavy and frequent traffic with extremes in weather conditions can often experience rutting that compromises the roadway’s integrity. This was the case for the Agra-Gwalior Highway, which connects the northernmost and southernmost tips of India. A trial featuring PGXpand®, a bitumen-friendly polymer additive for asphalt, was the subject of an article featured in the August [...]

Sripath PGXpand® Improves Rutting of Major Highway in India

PGXpand®, a unique polymer specially engineered by Sripath Technologies, was successfully used by PATH India Ltd to improve rutting performance on a 4-lane km stretch of Agra-Gwalior Highway in India.  PGXpand enhances the high temperature properties of bitumen without impacting low temperature properties.  A mix based on PGXpand® Modified Bitumen delivers outstanding rutting resistance, fatigue properties, long-term durability, [...]

Creating a Stronger Base with Emulsion Stabilization

Base stabilization increases the bearing capacity and strength of the roadway. Cement Treated Base (CTB) or Cement Treated Sub-Base (CTSB) have been common and popular methods to stabilize the soil and aggregate layers in paving applications. However, another method is gaining wider use. An Emulsion Treated Base (ETB) is an aggregate stabilized with emulsion and cement. Adding an [...]
